England: Doctoral student found guilty of raping 10 women

A doctoral student at University College London was convicted of rape of 10 women.

28 -year -old Zhenhao Zou was charged with 35 crimes that included 11 rape accusations, as well as three voyeurism charges, 12 extreme pornographic images, one of false prison and eight drug holding with the intention of committing a sexual crime.

During the four-week process, prosecutors thought about presenting evidence that Zou was a series rapist who relied on drugs to inability to fulfill their attacks.

Zou has used social media platforms and meeting sites to target women, often colleagues in London, then arranged to meet them.

The jury at the Crown Court of London has heard how Zou will secretly shoot its attacks using a mobile device and hidden cameras. Then the jurors were shown evidence found on SD cards at Zou’s accommodation, which showed him the violation of unconscious women in London and China.

Saira Pike, from the Crown Tracking Service, said: “Zou is a series rapist and a danger to women. To be part of the criminal prosecution team in this case was incredibly challenging, having to review the evidence and see what the women did, many of them being unconscious and made without defense by the drugs he gave.

“The criminal prosecution team has worked with the police for more than a year to choose an unprecedented amount of images and web chats that show its thorough planning and the terrible execution of its crimes.

“In some cases, we have not been able to identify Zou’s victims. Without knowing who these women are, we could not support them through a deeply frightening period of time.

“We have always been determined to seek justice for both unidentified victims and those identified in this case. We used an approach led by evidence based on Zou’s video recordings to make sure this dangerous predator faced justice. “
