– Why did Maharashtra become so cruel?

– Why did Maharashtra become so cruel?

“What attitude was such a terrible attitude in the state of Saint Tukaram, Saint Dnyaneshwar and great leaders such as Chhatrapati Shivaji, Chhatrapati Shahu, Phule and Ambedkar?”

Former Deputy Minister Chhagan Bhujbal raised Maharashtra’s selective ultrasound about brutal, terrible killings and four -young -ended torture before being silenced forever.

The Maharashtra assembly was unusually tense on March 5, while Bhujbal took the floor with a shared speech, asking justice for four men – Santosh Deshmukh, Soryawanshi, Mauli Sot and Kailas Borhade – three of those who met terrible dead in recent months.

While the killing of Santosh Deshmukh dominated the titles that led to Dhananjay’s resignation as minister, the other three Crimea-to the victims belonged to the Dalit communities and did not cause the same upset, Bhujbal was to suggest that he spoke for 15 assembly, for minutes.

Bhujbal’s voice trembled with anger and pathos as he asked: “Why does Maharashtra have – this land of saints like Tukaram and Dnyaneshwar, great revolutionaries like Chhatrapati Shivaji, (Jyotiba) Phule, shahu and (Babasaheb) Ambedkar – becomes so cruel? “

He urged the speaker to see these victims not as marses, dals or dhangars (Shepherds, an OBC caste), but as human beings.

The four cases – three crimes and a murderous torture – which Bhujbal highlighted it and made a fervent plea that seeks justice for all.

Santosh Deshmukh: The crime that shook Maharashtra

Beed district has never witnessed a crime so unleashed, so merciless. Santosh Deshmukh, a local Sarpanch, was abducted in the light of the wide day.

Its captors -it is assumed to have connected to Dhananjay Munde, which has now resigned after a sheet of action against its near assistant, and the main accused Walmik Karad, revealed the magnitude of Deshmukh before being killed.

For hours, he was beaten with iron rods, ribs cracked under each blow. The authors laughed while Deshmukh screams in pain.

“They really urinated on him when he asked for water,” said a visible bhujbal in the house and asked for the strictest punishment for Deshmukh’s killers.

Soryawanshi: forgotten death in police custody

In December 2024, Parbhani, Maharashtra, witnessed a tragedy that some say exposed discrimination of the deep caste and police brutality.

It began when a replica of the Constitution was deleted near an Ambedkar statue, arousing Delit protests.

In response, the police attacked Dalit’s settlements, arresting about 50 people, including the 35 -year -old law student, the Suryawanshi, member of the Vadar community (scheduled caste).

Rotath, known for his dedication for education, was arrested by Shankar Nagar and detained for two days.

Inside the police station, he was subjected to a brutal torture – naked, hanging upside down and pile with Lathis soaked in oil to prevent external brands.

When he asked for water, the officers poured hot tea on his neck. His body could not withstand torture, and until December 15, he was dead.

The police claimed that he suffered a heart attack, but the autopsy revealed “shock because of multiple wounds”, confirming the violence he endured.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who addressed the Assembly in Nagpur, said that beds have breathing problems, but claimed that he had not reported the police torture in court. Then he announced a meeting probe and the suspension of an officer.

Despite the local protests, the death of Doath failed to arouse the collective consciousness of Maharashtra, emphasizing the selective ultra and the systemic neglect of Dalit’s life.

“Even some police participate in the torture of custody freedom,” Bhujbal stressed.

“The recent case of the sleepy Suryawanshi, who belonged to the Vadar community, died in the Customs of the Police in the Parbhani.

“He is completely shameful as a person (Dhas) who made such a strident campaign against Walmik Karad and Dhananjay Munde should ask for forgiveness for the killers from Surywanshi just because he belonged to the Vadar community – just because this time the killers were police.

“The Constitution of India does not give Suryawanshi the same rights he gives to Deshmukh? Suryawanshi wasn’t a man? Was it an animal?”

Mauli Sote: Lynched for love

In October 2024, Mauli Sote, 18 years old, from the village of Takali in the Latur district, Maharashtra, was brutally assaulted due to a romantic assumption.

On October 27, six individuals attacked Mauli with sticks and rods, which led to serious injuries. He was immediately hospitalized and remained under medical care until he gave in to his wounds on January 6, 2025.

The six accused – Govend harsh, Gopal Hopal, Kamalakar Hard, Hard Manoj, Kumar Upade and Om Khedkar – were arrested shortly after the incident.

Following Mauli’s death, the authorities climbed the accusations for murder. Currently, the accused is in judicial arrest as the investigation continues.

This tragic event attracted parallel to the story of the Marathi movie Sairawhich depicts the challenges of the society facing inter-caste couples. The incident aroused discussions about the dynamics of the caste and the need for social introspection in Maharashtra.

Mauli’s death emphasizes the persistent problems of caste -based violence and society intolerance in the region.

It highlights the urgent need to approach prejudices with depth to prevent such tragedies in the future and how violence and torture are commonly normalized and justified for brutal lines on the love story.

Kailas Borhade: tortured with a hot iron rod

The village of Anwa of the Jalna District was witnessing a terrible act of brutality, when Kailas Govinda Borhade, 36, was attacked for an old land dispute.

On the night of February 24, Borhade was mercilessly beaten by two brothers, Bhagwat Daund and Navnath Daund, in a premeditated attack that left him seriously injured.

The attackers used a hot iron rod like a torture weapon, pressing Borhade’s body, causing severe burns throughout the body. Along with burns, he was also subjected to a violent beat, leaving him with more wounds.

The attack, which took place under the cover of darkness, was so severe that Borhade had to be in a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for urgent medical treatment.

The brutal nature of the crime sent shock wave through the local community, which determined the police actions. Following Borhade’s statement, a thread was recorded against the accused, but both attackers fled from the scene. The law enforcement authorities, under the pressure of acting, have launched a manhunt to catch the suspects.

While highlighted these crimes and cakes in the assembly, Bhujbal pleaded for the need for urgent and collective effort to demolish such attitudes, these incidents have raised concerns about law and order in Maharashtra, highlighting the persistence of violent disputes and ruthless methods engaged in acts in the law.
