Penndot to keep the “real identification days” as the execution time is approaching

Penndot works to make the process of obtaining a real ID, the improved driving license, which will soon be necessary for internal air travel, among others.

Throughout March, April and May, Penndot will host “Real Id Days”, weekly events at various centers in Philadelphia and all over the state, where residents can obtain a real identification driver before May 7.

Why is it important? Starting May 7, a real ID will be required to climb an internal commercial flight and for the federal or military buildings that require identification for the entrance. No real identification licenses are required to drive, vote or enter a federal building that does not currently require an ID to enter.

“As the weather begins to warm up, we know that many Pennsilvanians have made interesting travel plans,” said Secretary Penndot, Mike Carroll, in a press release. “With the federal application of the real ID starting May 7, your travel planning should include assurance that you have an appropriate ID to fly. If you want to continue using the driving license or photo card to fly internally, you will need to move on to a real ID if you haven’t done it already. “
