Pearl man convicted for a 15 -year -old sex battery

On April 15, 2024, the victim’s parents learned that Steven Joseph Tatum, 45 years old, sexually abused their daughter.

It was reported immediately to the Pearl Police Department, which then began to investigate.

According to Madison and Rankin district lawyer’s office, the investigation revealed that Tatum has sexually abused the child and also discovered the manipulation of the child by “electronic communication”.

Tatum will serve 30 years in the custody of the Mississippi correction department for sexual battery, 15 of those years will be served daily, without the possibility of conditional freedom or early release. It will also serve 15 years to certify lust.

At his release, Tatum will be put on the sample supervised for another five years and will be obliged to register as a sexual offender.
