Police identity woman accused in Chase that the injured officer injured in Lubbock

On Thursday, the police identified a 27-year-old woman, accused of leading officers, in a destructive chase, who ended with an accident that left an injured officer on Thursday in the Lubbock center.

Sierra Jimenez was reserved in the detention center in Lubbock County for numerous charges of crime, including aggravated aggression of a civil servant following the chase that started, while the police responded to a reported disturbance, around 1:19, on Thursday, to a motel from the 3100 block of Clovis Road.

Investigators believe that Jimenez was driving a pickup that hit two vehicles in the motel parking before leaving the scene. Shortly after, an officer located Pickup, who was now missing a tire, near the North University Avenue and Auburn Street and tried to stop traffic.

It is assumed that Jimenez refused to stop for the officer, causing a pursuit. The pursuit started south on Avenue Avenue, to an area near 34th Street. The pickup then traveled south on Avenue U and turned to the east into the 2000 block of 38th Street before colliding with another police unit that was responsible. Officer Jonathan Diaz suffered minor injuries and was taken by another police unit at MedicalCenter for his wounds. Jimenez also suffered minor injuries and was taken by EMS to UMC.

After Jimenez was released from the hospital, he was reserved in the detention center in Lubbock.

Jimenez is accused of aggravated aggression of a civil servant, aggravated with a deadly weapon, who stole in a vehicle, an offender holding a firearm, theft of a firearm, illegal transport of a weapon, unauthorized use of a vehicle and a criminal offense 3.

Other information on what has determined the initial police response was not available immediately. The major LPD accident investigation unit continues to investigate the pursuit and collision on the department’s policy.
