London (AP) – a man was arrested on Sunday, after he climbed into the Great Tower Ben at the Westminster Palace in central London, while barefoot and owned a Palestinian flag.

The man, who seemed to stage a protest on a terrace a few meters (meters) up Elizabeth Tower, who hosts Big Ben, left the building after midnight and on a cherry picker following a long conversation with negotiators. He entered a waiting ambulance.

Traffic around the Westminster Palace in London has reached a large part of Saturday, while emergency crews tried to reach the man. The negotiators were raised on a stairs platform of the Fire Brigade several times before speaking to him in the end.

The Westminster Bridge and a nearby street were closed for a large part of the day and several emergency service vehicles were on the spot, while the crowds look. The police also blocked all the pedestrian access in the Parliament Square. A small group of supporters shouted “free Palestine” behind a nearby police cord.

Officials said that the tours in the Houses of Parliament were canceled due to the incident.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the man was now arrested.

“This was an extended incident because of the specificity in which the man was located and the need to ensure the safety of our officers, the individual and the wider public,” it is stated in a statement.
