The Syrian presidency has previously announced that an “independent committee” had been formed to “investigate violations against civilians and identify those responsible for them”, adding that the perpetrators will be referred to the court.

“The committee has the right to use anyone who considers adequate to perform their tasks and present their report to the Presidency of the Republic in a maximum period of thirty days from the date of issuing this decision,” the Presidency statement.

According to Serdar, Al Jazeera, the confrontations took place on Sunday in the city of Qardahah in Latakia.

“Qardahah is symbolically an extremely important (city), because it is the birthplace of the Al-Assad regime,” said Serdar, reporting from Damascus.

“But one of the critical locations … is Baniyas, in the tart. Banias hosts the largest oil refinery in Syria, and the security forces say that the remains of the old regime (have) have tried to attack that oil refinement, ”he added.

The violence in Banias came despite the call of peace by Al-Sharaa earlier Sunday.

Serdar said that Syrian security forces reported a loss of 230 of their own staff, while most of the killed were civilians.

Deadly confrontations

The fight started after Thursday, Pro-Assad fighters coordinated the Security forces on Thursday. The attacks turned into revenge killings, while thousands of armed supporters of the new Syrian leadership went to the coastal areas to support security forces.

The hammers-about the monitoring of the London War in London The Syrian human rights observer said they had already killed 1,000 people, mostly civilians continued for the fourth day on Sunday. The Syrians circulated graphic videos of civilian executions.

Al Jazeera failed to independently check the victim’s figures.

In front of the confrontations, Al-Sharaa asked for the “national unity” while he reassured a lot at a mosque in his childhood neighborhood in Mezzo, in Damascus.

“We must keep the national unity and internal peace. We can live together, ”said the president.

“Be sure of Syria, this country has the characteristics for survival … What is happening in Syria is in the expected challenges.”

“A major delay”

The head of the United Nations, Volker Turk, has requested prompt investigations and said that those responsible should be taken into account. Turk said that the announcements of the country’s authorities to comply with the law must be followed by actions to protect Syrians and to ensure responsibility for abuse.

According to Labib Al-Nahhas, a Syrian politician and activist, violence is “a major delay” for Syria Post-Assad.

“What happened at this moment is an extremely sophisticated, coordinated, instigated and supported by Iran and Hezbollah, according to data and Intel that are available,” Al-Nahhas told Al Jazeera.

“Iran, who is looking for a new lever in Syria … is based on the sectarian and religious tension that exists in Syria because of six decades of the Syrian regime. But this is the place where the new authorities have the chance to show another type of tone and path. “

The new government must build “a powerful, unified national front”, which is a cornerstone “would be a new transitional government that is truly inclusive, not (just) lip service,” said Al-Nahhas.

“It is the responsibility not only of the authorities, but also of the whole Syrian society, to truly focus on the positive land.”

Regional stability

Meanwhile, Jordan hosted a regional conference on Sunday to discuss problems that Syria is facing, such as security, reconstruction and refugees. Top officials in Turkiye, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon have joined the Jordanian capital.

“All these countries that share a border with Syria have an interest in which there is stability and security for the new administration and the Syrian people,” said Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, referring from Amman.

“For example, stability in Syria means that millions of refugees that Turkiye and Jordan host can voluntarily return to Syria,” she added.

“If there is stability and the rule of law and a united Syria, Iraq can have more comfort in the fight against ISIS (ISIL) … If there is stability and security, Jordan can also be more comfortable in fighting drug trafficking, which has created a crisis for the Iordanian government. “

Al-Assad’s overthrow in December ended more than five decades of dynastic government by his family, which was marked by severe repression and a devastating war that broke out in 2011, after the peaceful anti-government protests were met with a repression of brutal security. Tens of thousands of Syrians were killed and millions were forced to escape from the country or displaced internally, while Syria went down to war.
