On February 6, Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union donated $ 1,500 to the Bowdoin Community Association to support the purchase of a fire extinguishing blanket for electric vehicles for the Bowdoin Fire Department. This essential safety equipment will help the first respondents to manage the fires of electric vehicles more efficiently, improving safety for both emergencies and community.

With the increasing number of electric vehicles on the road, the national fire sections adapt to the new fire extinguishing challenges. The fires burn warmer and more than the traditional fires of the vehicle, requiring specialized equipment to contain them efficiently. The new EV fire blanket, financed by this donation, is designed to snatch rapidly and isolate high intensity fires, limiting damage and improving firefighters’ safety.

“With our limited resources, this donation for an EV blanket is a huge rescue for us,” said Thomas Garrepy, the head of Bowdoin, in a prepared statement. “This will allow the Bowdoin Fire Department to provide mutual help to other local firefighters and, therefore, will have an impact on the larger community, not just the city of Bowdoin.”

Bowdoin Community Cares Association, a non -profit local dedicated to the assistance of the members of the community and the support of the first respondents, facilitated the purchase of this critical safety tool. The Bowdoin Fire Department is now joining the increasing number of firefighters equipped with EV fire blankets to address emerging safety challenges.

“Supporting our local emergency respondents is an important part of our commitment to the community,” said Shiloh Hagerman, vice -president of lending at Lisbon Community Federal Credit. “We are grateful for the dedication of the Bowdoin community care association and the Bowdoin Fire Department and we are proud to contribute to their efforts to keep our community safe.”
