Moped driver killed in Taylor County Accident

Campbellsville, Ky. (WBKO)-A man was killed on Sunday in an accident with two vehicles in Taylor County.

According to Kentucky State Police, Post 15 in Colombia, the accident happened around 4:13 pm, near the intersection between Meer Street and Handley Avenue.

A preliminary investigation found that 78 -year -old Howard Polk from Campbellsville was leading Handley Avenue to the East, in a 2003 Ford expedition, when he tried to cross Meader Street.

The police say he failed to see a moped on his way, which leads to the accident.

Moped rider Johnny Dickens, 55, from Campbellsville, was pronounced dead on the spot. Poling was not injured.

Poling was arrested and charged with car homicide, DUI (the first crime, aggravated circumstances), holding a container of alcoholic beverages open in a vehicle and other traffic offenses.

He remains in arrest at the Taylor County prison.

Kentucky State Police leads the investigation.
