Two drivers were injured in a collision on Saturday morning at the intersection between Cornelia Hwy. and Lula rd.

The Sheriff’s office in Hall County said that the accident took place just before 9:30, an initial investigation revealed the driver of a Fed-Exterior Vargas truck, 65, from Covington was trying to make a left turn from Cornelia Hwy. to the north on Lula rd. westward.

The traffic signal was assumed to blink at that time. Vargas pulled on the path of a passenger vehicle to the south, driven by Gilbert Ibarra, 31, from Gainesville.

Both drivers were transported to the northern medical center -Georgia in Gainesville for treatment. Vargas was accused of failure to turn left.

Cornelia Hwy. Southbound was closed for about an hour while the investigation was ongoing.
