The Archdiocese of St. Boniface faces another process that claims the sexual assignment by the former priest

The Archdiocese of St. Boniface from the Roman -Catholic Church is sent to court by a man who says he was sexually assaulted by a former priest at the church in the village of Somerset., In the 1970s.

The trial says that a priest named Rene Touchete, who is now deceased, was convicted of sexual assault against the applicant and other victims of Somerset in December 1993 or around 1993.

The applicant is now in the 60’s, and his claim filed on March 3 at the King’s Bank’s courtyard says that sexual aggression took place between 1972 and 1980, when the applicant was about 13 to 21 years old.

When the applicant was a member of the Somerset Church, where the Touchete was the priest.

The applicant claims that, starting at about 13 or 14 years old, the touch has asked him to help with the duties of the church and at home and often remained at the priest’s house on the church lands.

Touchete also took the applicant on trips to places as California, in which the priest will stay in the same hotel room as the applicant, says the trial.

He says that Touchete sexually assaulted the applicant on occasions at the church and on trips and that the priest often gave the applicant’s alcohol, even if he was a minor.

“The applicant says that the touch knew or should have known that his conduct was unwanted, humiliating, offensive, abusive, illegal and constituted by batteries and sexual aggression,” says the process.

The statements were not tested in court.

Touchete was previously accused of sexual assault in two other processes in 2023. These cases are still before the court.

The last trial processes of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface, at Corporation Archiepiscopale Catholique Romaine de Saint-Boniface and Archbishop of St. Boniface as defendants. Defense statements were not filed in court.

Neither the applicant nor the defendants immediately responded to a comment request from CBC News.

The CBC does not name the applicant because he is an alleged victim of abuse.

The process supports the conscious archdiocese of abuse

His trial claims “the archbishop, he knew or should have known that the touch was a pedophile”, because “various complaints of sexual and/or physical aggression were made against the touch by the victims of the attack, including the applicant’s brother.”

He says that, at least once, a victim cried personally to the Archbishop of St. Boniface about a touchy attack, but “the touch was transferred from one church to another.”

“Despite the complaints, the Archdiocese did not do any measures to end the abuse, and the abuse continued against the applicant,” the declaration of claim shows.

He says that Touchette and Archdiocese were obliged to “investigate sexual assault reports against the clergy members” and to “encourage the reporting of sexual abuse.”

The archbishop had to “act on the knowledge that the Both has sexually abused and/or physically abused children” and to conclude their employment, says the request.

He says that the archbishop violated his duties by “placing the touch in a position of trust and confidence when he was a pedophile who sexually assaulted the applicant.”

The applicant claims that he has undergone effects such as post -traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, humility, loss of dignity and negative impact on family and social relations.

He is looking for an unspecified amount of damage for damage, such as pain and suffering, loss of past and future income and future care and treatment.
