Father’s prison sentence for sexual aggression of the son reduced to 10

Putrajaya: The Court of Appeal, Wednesday (March 12), reduced the prison sentence of a former debt collector from 13 to 10 years for the sexual aggression of his 11 -year -old son in 2019.

A panel with three judges comprising Datuk Che Mohd Ruzima Ruzima, Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan and Datuk Azmi Ariffin made the decision after allowing the 53 -year -old man.

However, the court ordered the man to suffer three reed blows.

In May 2023, the Court of Session sentenced the man to 10 years in prison and two reed blows, after being guilty of sexually assaulted his son in a house in Kuala Selangor, Selangor, at 14:00, in June 2019.

He was also sentenced to another three years of imprisonment and three reed blows in accordance with section 16 (1) of the Law on sexual crimes against children in 2017, with sentences to run consecutively.

The man’s appeal against the sentences was rejected by the High Court in January last year.

In Wednesday’s procedures, the man’s lawyer, Ka Ramu claimed that his client was remarkable and claimed that the incident only happened for five seconds, but deputy prosecutor Mohd Fairuz Johari fought that the incident caused significant trauma to the child.

Meanwhile, the same group has also reduced the prison sentence of a former Muay Thai instructor, Ahmad Tarmiza Othman, from 18 years of rent to 14 years for two charges of violating a 13 -year -old in two different places in Jaya petaling, Selangor in January and August 2020.

However, the court confirmed the imposition of four strokes on the man.

Judge Che Mohd Ruzima stated that the sentence of nine years in prison for each accusation sent by the Court of Session was excessive and, therefore, reduced it to seven years each, which must be served consecutively.

Ahmad Tarmiza, 35 years old, who was sentenced to nine years and two blows for each accusation, filed an appeal to the High Court, but the court rejected his appeal on July 23 last year.

Lawyers Muhammad Danish Manoharan and Muhammad Aiman Fauzi represented the man, while the public prosecutor Mohamad Arif Aizuddin Masrom appeared to follow. – Bernama
