AIRASIA to suspend the hypoh-s’pore route; Perak Govt says it was not informed in advance

IPOH – The Perak State Government was not consulted or informed before the announcement of Airasia about the cessation of the Ipoh -Singapore route, according to the Perak state assembly, Loh Sze Yee.

The chairman of the Tourism Development Committee, Industry, Investments and Corridor Perak said the data shows that the route has constantly seen a good request.

He mentioned that the cessation of the Ipoh-Singapore route is just one of several routes affected by the company’s decision.

“There are concerns that this could have a negative impact on tourism, investments and industry in Ipoh and Perak in general.

“This termination contradicts the government’s efforts to stimulate air transport in the state.

“The state government has always supported and cooperated in facilitating the smooth functioning of domestic and international flights,” Mr. Loh said in a statement on March 12.

A notification on the Airasia website states that about 17 routes, including Ipoh-Singapore One, will be suspended.

He also said that the low-cost carrier will suspend the services for the further revision and alignment of his operations.

Mr. Loh said that the modernization of the works at Sultan Azlan Shah Al Ipoh airport are part of the initiatives taken by the state and federal governments to improve and improve the facilities for optimizing flight services.

He said that the upgrade is expected to be officiated by the Prime Minister and Minister of Transport in the near future.

“I hope that Airasia will consider the resumption of the route operations.

“I also hope that this is only a temporary measure as part of the company’s strategy for new destinations,” he added. Star/Asia news network
