South Korea’s army accused two pilots of the air forces with criminal negligence after a Accidental bombardia that injured 38 people outside a living fire range.

The two unidentified KF-16 pilots were accused of incorrectly introduced incorrect bombing coordinates during a training flight on March 6, the criminal investigation of the Ministry of National Defense said on Thursday in a press release.

Eight MK-82 bombs of 500 kilograms MK-82 hit a section of Pocheon, beyond the interval of practice and about 20 miles south of the border with North Korea.

The pilots’ error was the “direct cause” of the bombs on a residential area, the statement said. The investigation remains in progress.

The bombs were also abandoned “Without confirming the target” in the final stages, reporters, the spokesman of the South Korea Air Force, told Dong-Ha, reporters at a press conference on Thursday.

Jang said that pilots are experiencing additional accusations related to damage to an unspecified military unit.

The chief of the General Staff of the Air Force in South Korea, General Lee Young-Zu, issued a television excuse.

“As a staff, I am responsible for this accident,” he said before tilting his head.

Following the incident, American forces Korea announced that all live fire formations have been suspended for “local community safety”.

The preparation was part of the large -scale exercises for the freedom shield that started on Monday, according to the Ministry of Defense and USFK. The 10-day exercise includes operations on Earth, air, large and Ciberspațiu and involves about 19,000 South Korean troops and an unspecified number of American staff.

North Korea, which frequently condemns the US-South Corea military exercises, called this year’s exercises a “nuclear war simulation” and described the bombing incident as “an unpleasant sign”.

The bombs landed “near the southern border” of North Korea and “it is not unjustified to imagine that an accidental spark could have plunged the Korean peninsula … in a new armed conflict,” the Central State News Agency on Wednesday.
