An eight -year -old child who was raped in Bangladesh, died on Thursday because of his wounds, triggering fierce protests throughout the country.

The girl was raped while visiting her older sister’s house in Magura, some time between the night of March 5 and the next morning, according to a case submitted by her mother.

The older sister’s husband, aged 18, along with his parents and brother, were arrested and placed at the arrest.

On Thursday night, after hearing news about the child’s death, an angry crowd went down to the house where the incident was supposed to have taken place.

The girl died on Thursday around 1:00 pm (07:00 GMT), after suffering three cardiac arrests, according to a statement of the Public Relations Department (ISP).

“Although the doctors have managed to stabilize the state twice, the heart failed to restart after the third episode,” the statement said.

She spent six days in a critical condition at the combined military hospital in the capital Dhaka, after being admitted on March 8.

“I thought my daughter would survive,” her mother said after the girl’s death, according to the local press. “If it had passed it, I would never have let it go anywhere.”

The girl’s body was taken back to Magura in a helicopter of the army, which landed on the local stadium around 6:00 pm until fierce protests.

Aiyub Ali, an officer to the police station Magura Sadar, said that the authorities have endeavored to bring the situation under control, according to The Daily Star.

Thousands of people gathered in the public market in Magura for Namaz-E-Janaza of the girl, the Islamic funeral prayer, before being rested at 19:30.

An absent funeral also took place for the girl from Dhaka University, in the nation’s capital, followed by a march of protest and speeches of female students.

Many protesters have asked the government to accelerate the justice for the victims of the rape and the reform laws related to the safety of women and children.

The protesters also demanded greater clarity in terms of the legal definitions of what is rape in Bangladesh, which they said are currently ambiguous.

The process of the case of rape and crime is expected to start in the next seven days, according to the legal adviser Asif Nazrul.

“The collection of the DNA sample has been completed, we hope to get the report in the next five days,” said Mr. Nazrul, a press briefing at the Secretariat said on Thursday – adding that the statements were already taken from 12 to 13 people.

“If we can start the trial within seven days, our judges will be able to provide justice at the highest speed,” he added.

The rape of minors is punished by death in Bangladesh, according to a law that was adopted in 2020.

The introduction of this law followed a number of cases of high sexual violence, including the brutal aggression of the bands on a 37 -year -old woman who was filmed and widespread on social networks.

Less than a week after the rape of the young girl from Magura, there were reports of at least three children of children about the same age in different parts of Bangladesh.

In some cases, the accused were neighbors of the victim, while others were close relatives.

According to statistics at the Law and Arbitration Center, 3,438 children’s rape cases were registered in Bangladesh and there were many other victims of rape.

At least 539 of them are under the age of six, and 933 are between seven and twelve years.

Research has shown that, in most cases, children are sexually abused or raped by people they know.
