The cause of the Meridian fire that sparked Thursday was driven as accidental, according to El Paso County Sheriff.

The quick movement fire is 80% from 9:45 am on Friday, according to an update from the sheriff’s office.

The grass fire, between the Schriever space base and the Airport in Colorado Springs, burned about 2,500 acres.

The socializing stations at the Colorado Springs fire department on Thursday showed a small grass fire -in the intersection between 30 and Garden of the Gods Road on Thursday.




It started in a development lot near South Meridian Road, to the east of Colorado Springs Airport, around 1 pm on Thursday, officials said.

The fire destroyed three buildings and the inhabitants of the forced area, including those in the trailer park with the arrow of 54 sites, to evacuate several hours. Mandatory evacuations were lifted around 9 pm

Gilmour was found nearby after the police identified it in connection with the fire and was arrested. He is facing additional charges for the possession of drugs, together with active mandates of crime and crimes, unrelated to the fire.

Around 3:00 pm, the grassy hills caught fire, which threatened three houses nearby. It was held at 20 acres, thanks to 40 firefighters from Colorado Springs.

Fire hazard

A warmer Sunday is expected with high temperatures in the 60s low, followed by the return of a high fire hazard on Monday.
