After the 13-year-old son of Angela Shipe told her she was sexually assaulted, Shipe began looking for school policies to protect her son and other children at school.

“I simply do not want responsibility. I want change. I want something to change, “said Shipe. “I don’t think he felt quite comfortable telling someone fully what happened. So it was hard to hear my son stay there and cry and tell me the things this boy did. “

Shipe said he knows he had to find a way to forget his son, but after talking to school, he felt that they didn’t take the situation seriously.

“Sometimes I feel that the school takes things with a grain of salt. They think it was all that was, only boys were boys. There are a lot of mentalities “boys who are boys” in schools, “said Shipe. “I am not satisfied with the way he was approached. He was a victim and, even if he did not consider him a victim, I think he should have taken measures when they were to talk to him. “

Shipe then took the story on Facebook, where other parents flooded it with messages on how they felt.

Shipe now wants to fight even more not only for her son, but also for all the other students in the county who could have been affected.

“This cannot continue and I am not naive. I know this is clear throughout the world, intimidation, sexual assault and all these things are big problems in schools. But until someone speaks and we make a change, no matter how small, nothing will change, ”said Shipe.

From now on, Shipe keeps his son at home until he feels that the school is safe again.
