  • A Republican official of Volusia County filed a complaint against the candidate of the Democratic Congress, Josh Weil, at the Florida Electoral Commission.
  • The complaint claims that Weil has falsely attributed a quote about the defense of the social security of its Republican opponent, Randy Fine.
  • Weil claims that his campaign is thoroughly making his materials and is confident in his supply.

An official of the Republican Party of Volusia County has sent a complaint to the Florida Electoral Commission for a campaign mailer from Josh Weil Congress campaign.

Weil is the Democratic candidate in the special elections of April 1 to replace the former Congressist Michael Waltz, who resigned in January to become the national security counselor of President Donald Trump. Republican state senator Randy Fine opposes Weil, Libertarian Andrew Parrott and the randall terry party candidate.

Vic Baker, the Republican State Commissioner of Volusia County, claims that Weil has made a false statement in a campaign mailer, a violation of a status that writes, in part: “Any candidate that … with real wickedness makes or makes a statement about an opposite candidate, who is false.”

The punishment is up to a fine of $ 5,000.

Baker said that Weil Flyer quotes well, without attribution, saying, “We have to increase the retirement age and defuse social security.”

Baker claims Fine has never made the comment. He also wrote in his letter to the electoral commission: “Mr. Weil made this statement with knowledge about his falsehood or a reckless disregard for his truth. Such a deliberate act of misinformation not only misleads voters, but also undermines the integrity of the electoral process in Florida.”

In an interview on Friday night, Weil said his campaign to analyze the complaint.

“I made a lot of males,” he said. “… My team, my compliance team, fund collectors and my team (communications) are very thorough in their supply and, if I put it there, I feel confident that they have the necessary documentation when the time comes.”
