The Starship mission of Spacex to Mars targets 2026 with Optimus robot on board

The founder of Spacex, Elon Musk, announced on Saturday that the company’s star rocket will start on Mars by the end of 2026, wearing Tesla Optimus’s humanoid robot.

Musk added that, if the initial landings will continue successfully, human missions could start as early as 2029, although it considered that 2031 is a more likely target.

“Starship is leaving for Mars at the end of next year, wearing Optimus. If these landings are going well, then human landings can start as early as 2029, although 2031 is more likely, ”Musk said in a X post, the social platform previously known as Twitter.

Starship, the largest and most powerful rocket in the world, is central for Musk’s long -term vision to establish a human presence on Mars.

NASA is also waiting for a modified version of the spacecraft to serve as a monthly Lander for its Artemis program, which is designed to return astronauts per month until the end of this decade.

However, before Spacex can undertake these ambitious missions, it must prove that the stars’ vessels are reliable and safe for the equipped flights and capable of performing complex power in orbit a critical requirement for deep space missions.

Earlier this month, Spacex experienced a delay when his last starship prototype test ended in a fiery explosion.

Despite this fact, Booster was successfully caught during his orbital test.

The incident reflected the result of the previous test, the upper stage decreasing uncontrolled a few minutes after the lifting and booster separation. The live video feed was suddenly cut before the final result was visible.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Spacex will be forced to conduct an investigation of failure before future flights take place.
