Previously deported migrant woman caught drugs in Philadelphia, arrested during ice operation

Philadelphia – American immigration and customs application (ICE) arrested a Dominican national in Philadelphia, which was previously convicted of drug trafficking and deporteed, officials announced on Thursday.

36-year-old Virginia Basora-Gonzalez was arrested on March 12 during a common operation involving ice, US Marshals and alcohol, tobacco, fire and explosive weapons. She returned the US without authorization after being deported in 2020.

Basora-Gonzalez was convicted in 2020 for attempted possession with the intention to distribute fentanil and to help and prevent. She was sentenced to just over a year in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. ICE deported it to the Dominican Republic on October 6, 2020.

“This successful common operation exemplifies the collaboration efforts of the federal law enforcement agencies to apply the laws regarding the immigration of our nation and to eliminate the dangerous persons on our streets,” said the director of the ICE land bureau.

On March 12, ICE issued an intention notification to reinstall the previous removal order from Basora-Gonzalez and obtained a federal arrest warrant. It was taken over at the US Marshal Service and remains in arrest for illegal pursuit.
