Man caught in sexual sting in Minnesota, Florida accused of rape for children in separate case

A man from Eden Prairie, who was caught in sexual stings both in Minnesota and Florida, was accused of rape for children in a separate case.

According to judicial documents, Michael Buce Gillis, 34, was accused of requesting a child for sexual conduct for an incident on August 7, 2024.

The criminal complaint shows that the Bloomington police and other agencies worked in an undercover detail by creating people online on several social platforms. One of the people who engaged in the operation was Gillis, who sent messages with an undercover officer posing like a 15-year-old boy.

Judicial records say that Gillis spoke about “experimenting and trying things”, which caused Gillis to say he would meet the under -covered officer. Gillis was arrested once he arrived at the location.

Gillis posted $ 65,000 bail and was released from arrest, according to court documents. A jury process is scheduled to start on April 7.

Then, in October 2024, the Sheriff’s office in Polk County of Florida carried out a similar undercover operation, where the detectives worked to find criminals who used the Internet to sexually exploit children.

On October 3, 2024, an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old boy received sexually explicit messages from Gillis, who used an alias on the website.

As the communication continued in the next two days, the undercover officer offered Gillis an address, who then ordered a Uber to be renounced, the criminal complaint shows. When Gillis arrived at the address, he said he was worried and returned to Uber, but was detained by the authorities shortly.

Gillis was released on Bond and has a court date in Florida for his multiple charges scheduled for March 25th.

The latest incident took place on March 2, in which the judicial documents say that Mounds watches the police was notified of a missing person.

A woman said her 15 -year -old grandson left the house and did not return a few hours, says the complaint. The woman found her nephew’s iPad, where the nephew had spoken to Gillis, who used an alias again and sent nude photos.

The officers found that the 15 -year -old was going to an address in Eden Prairie belonging to Gillis, according to judicial documents.

Police Eden Prairie found the victim and discovered the communication between the two in which Gillis offered to pay for a Uber to bring the 15 -year -old to his home.

The victim told the authorities that, when he arrived at the house, Gillis was “in fact.” The 15 -year -old said they had entered Gillis’s bedroom, and Gillis sexually assaulted, the judicial documents say.

The complaint notes that the victim fled the house once Gillis fell asleep and added that Gillis asked the victim to help him cover different sexual assault.

Gillis was accused of a third -degree criminal conduct with a minor, Wednesday. He is not currently under arrest and a mandate has been issued for his arrest.

His first appearance in court for the child rape charge is scheduled for March 17.
