Barrow: Police data discovers the number of crimes committed in January

In total, 439 crimes were committed – including over half (224) for violence and sexual crimes.

Offenses are collected on the web site using maps that identify a precise location.

Here is a breakdown of offenses in each area.

Barrow Central and Hindpool – 156 offenses

This district of Barrow has registered the largest number of offenses reported.

Crime maps show that there were 61 violence and sexual crimes, 26 criminal damage and fire offenses, with 16 other offenses for both antisocial behavior, public order and shopping.

The remaining crimes included drugs (7), other thefts (6), burglary (3), weapons (3), vehicle crime (1) and other crimes (1).

Salthouse, Newbarns and Roose – 124 crimes

Similarly, over half of the crimes committed in this district were for violence and sexual crimes in a total value of 69.

In addition, natural persons committed 11 criminal damages and fires, ten for public order and eight for antisocial behavior and shopping.

The other crimes committed included other thefts (7), drugs (5), other crime (5) and holding of weapons (1).

Violence and sexual crimes have dominated this district with 54 general offenses.

There were also nine reports on criminal damages and fires, as well as for offenses related to the public order.

Also included were the antisocial behavior (4), theft (3), other theft (2), the crime of the vehicle (2), theft from person (1), purchase (1), holding of weapons (1) and bicycle theft (1).

Barrow and Walney Island – 63 crimes

This district registered the smallest number of offenses committed in Barrow.

The police received 40 reports of violence and sexual crimes, as well as five for criminal damages and fires, public order and other theft.

There were also three offenses for shopping, two for other unique drug offenses and offenses, antisocial behavior and weapons.
