Sarasota County Sheriff offers spring breaks safety tips

Sarasota, Fla. (WWSB) – The Fire Department of Sarasota County is increasing the response capacities for March, before running Spring Breakers!

An additional rescue unit will be stationed daily on Siesta Key, and the fire/rescue boat will be on the water patrolling between 10 and 19:00 on the weekend.

Fire rescuers from Sarasota County are in their stands from 10 to 16:45 daily. There will be an extended lifeguard coverage for the incidents response on Lido, Siesta and Casey Key until 7:00 pm always swam near a lifeguard and will never allow children to swim alone.

The fire station in Sarasota 13 also has a UTV that can be used to respond to emergency situations on the beach.

Additional spring breaks:

  • Stay hydrated.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • Take breaks in the shade.
