GISB case: March 24, CEO, wife and other 20

Kajang: The High Court Shah Alam set on March 24 to rule on the application of Gisb Holdings CEO, Datuk Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, his wife and 20 other accusations in an organized crime group, after deposits on both sides.

“The trial of March 24 will take place at the Kajang prison,” announced Judge Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar at the Monday (March 17) hearing at the Kajang prison complex.

Previously, Nasiruddin’s lawyer, Datuk Rosli Kamaruddin, claimed that his client, who has four wives and 26 children, suffers from severe diabetes and heart disease.

He also mentioned that Nasirudin has no previous criminal record and has not been accused under the law of companies, the anti-trafficking law in persons or any offenses related to faith.

“As GISB CEO, my client is actively involved in business operations at local and international level, including food services in over 20 countries,” he said, adding that Nasirudin is not a flight risk, has a fixed address and will not interfere with witnesses of criminal prosecution.

Meanwhile, the other defense counselors have adopted Rosli’s arguments in support of their customers’ bail.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Shafiq Hasim claimed that section 13 (2) of the Law on Security offenses (Special Measures) (SOSMA) 2012 grants the court discretion to consider the requests for bail, provided that the charges

“Applicants ask for bail on reasons for illness or infirmity. However, after the revision of the statements of support, the criminal prosecution found that they did not submit medical reports or documents to substantiate their claims.

“They only say they are bad and, therefore, eligible for bail. Their affections are common conditions that others can suffer.

“The court must distinguish what diseases justifies the bail to avoid establishing a precedent that undermines its credibility,” he presented.

In addition, DPP Mariam Jamielah AB Manaff said that, according to a medical report on February 28, all applicants were stable, stressing that the court should rely on the latest medical reports, rather than the applicants’ requests.

“The prison medical team is adequate, with complete facilities and necessary drugs. In addition, applicants can request treatment at Klinik Kesihatan Sungai Buloh,” she said.

On October 23, 2024, Nasiruddin, 66 years old, his wife Azura MD Yusof, 58 and 20 others were accused at the session court in Selayang, being members of a crime group organized at a space in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, between October 2020 and September 11, 2024.

Among those accused with them counted Mohammad Adib at-Tammes, 33, the son of former Alqam founder, Ashaari Muhammad.

The other accused are Mohd Shukri Mohd Noor, 54 years old; MUHAMMAD AFDALUDDIN LATIF, 35; Mohamad Sayuti Omar, 36 years old; Mohd Fazil MD Jasin, 58 years old; Mohd Dhirar Fakhrur Razi, 35 years old; Mokhtar Tajuddin, 61; Muhammad Fajrul Islam Khalid, 29; Abu Ubaidah Ahmad Shukri, 35 years old; Shuhaimi Mohamed, 57 years old; Hasnan Abd Hamid, 54 years old; and muhammad sugar Azhar @ nadzri, 52.

Khalilate-Zalifah Mohammad Jamil, 28, were also accused; Nur Jannah Omar; Hamimah Yakub, 73; Asmat @ Asmarira Muhammad Ramly, 45 years old; Jannah Idris nur; Sit Salmiah Ismail; Site Hajar Ismail, 29 years; And Mahani Kasim, 55 years old.

They were accused under section 130V (1) of the Criminal Code, which has a prison sentence between five and 20 years after the conviction. The case was subsequently transferred to the High Court Shah Alam for the trial.

On January 13, the High Court Shah Alam granted Hamimah’s bail for 40,000 RM with two guarantees, subject to a prohibition to contact the criminal prosecution witnesses, to teach his passport to the court and report to the police headquarters in the Kajang district every two weeks until the process is completed. – Bernama
