Maharashtra: 2 students climb on the water tank in the palghar, die after it collapses

Two children, aged 12, were killed while another was critically injured on Monday, when a water tank crashed into a village in Palghar district, the police said.

The police said three students climbed the water tank near their school in Sukhdamba, when the tank plate gave way.

Two students died on the spot, while another student was critically injured.

Some villagers claimed that the water tank was built in the Jal Jeevan mission and questioned the quality of its construction.

“We lost our child because of the negligence of those who had to offer clean drinking water. It is not only an accident, but a crime. The responsible ones must be punished,” said Deepak Pagi, the brother of one of the dead Harshada Pagi.

The inspector of the Kasa Police Section, Avinash Mandle, said a case of accidental death was registered.
