On Tuesday, Kellie Ann-Marie Whiteside was guilty of repeated sexual conduct between 2015 and 2018 in southeast Queensland.

The Brisbane District Court heard that the 44-year-old woman cared for the girl for Monday before the pair engaged in different forms of sexual acts on school fields, in public toilets, at a sports unit and in the family home.

The pair continued his relationship until March 2023, and the abuse was related to the police last year.

The court heard that the three-year-old mother would have married alcohol then and encouraged her to look at porn to “find out about sex.”

The crown prosecutor said the victim’s parents tried to intervene several times over a period of three years, but Whiteside went to long lengths to keep contact with the child, who even involved the transfer to her high school.

The court has heard that the victim thought she and Whitesi were married and was a stepfather for her children.

The former student, who cannot be appointed for legal reasons, has read a strong impact statement on the victim in court and detailed their current nightmares, chronic depression, anxiety and insomnia as a result of the crime.

It is hard for me to form significant relationships with people because of the fear of being manipulated and washed on the brain by someone I trust again.

“In the last 18 months, I have rebuilt all the bridges I was handled in burns in the 10 years in which I was involved with my abuser,” they said.

The victim continued to describe his abuser as a “big, black cloud”, permanently floating over his landmark memories, such as sports games, high school graduation, formal and birthdays.

“It is an selfish, manipulative and terrifying representation of this small group of predatory educators in the schooling system,” they said.

People like Kelly would never have stopped by myself … I’m not sorry that she was caught.

Their parents also sent an impact statement on the victim in court, describing the impact that the abuse had on the whole family.

“The next emotional of our family was deep, feeling that something is not correct, but has no evidence and does not want to accuse someone of improper behavior towards a child.”

“Our child paid the final price for this.”

The judge says the woman “took advantage” of the little child

Lawyer Whiteside, James McNab, said Whiteside was experiencing postnatal depression at the time of offense and is facing the breakdown of his marriage.

“Now he has lost his job as a teacher and will never work in that profession.”

he said.

Chief Judge Brian Devereaux has sentenced Whiteside to five years in prison, however he will be eligible for conditional freedom in March 2027.

“Your behavior has caused terrible consequences of this family … You took advantage of a very young child in a difficult time in her life,” he said.

“This is a unique thing and it’s all you do and I’m sure you understand that now.”
