The American man guilty of sexual aggression, the online campaign “Nepar” against adolescent Ottawa

A pennsylvania man was convicted of sexual assault, criminal harassment and other crimes, including an online campaign against an Ottawa minor.

David Bukoski was 18 in 2013, when he met a 13 -year -old girl from Ottawa through the online game community.

What turned into a romantic relationship was transformed into a disturbing harassment campaign, Bukoski being found guilty of distributing intimate images.

The case was an “amazing account of how Internet technology can be used for bad purposes”, the superior justice of the court Adriana Doyle wrote in her detailed decision of March 12.

Already convicted in the United States for carrying out an online attack for rent, Bukoski has practically appeared for his Canadian process.

Now they expect to have an extradition hearing to be sent to Canada for conviction.

Met online over Minecraft

Bukoski and the victim, which cannot be identified and was quoted as MS in the decision, both played Minecraft, a virtual construction game and would discuss in online groups dedicated to the game community.

Bukoski’s group, through his own admission, was full of toxicity and at home to verbal abuse, including misogyny and racism.

Bukoski was a player throughout his life, with higher skills and a reputation for launching online attacks.

The romantic relationship started online, but later involved three personal meetings: one at a Brooklyn, NY game conference, which participated in MS and her father and two visits to Ottawa in August and September 2017 by Bukoski.

Bukoski sexually assaulted in 2017 during one of his visits to the nation’s capital, despite repeated refusals. He was abusive during the relationship and made false suicide attempts.

At that time, a teenager, SM began to meet someone else.

Intimate images sent to school

Bukoski started a tireless online harassment campaign, which targeted her, her new lover and both families.

He admitted freely to the criminal harassment, starting his Dam of unwanted E -Moys to MS in October 2017 and publicly posted personal information, including its address.

The court has decided that Bukoski was engaged in persistent online harassment and non-research distribution of MS images, which led to a multiple numbers.

He began to pursue, make repetitive phone calls and send threatening emails. He sent intimate images with MS to school and employers and posted them online. He also sent false threats with bombs for schools and Ottawa airport.

Bukoski would send unwanted pizza deliveries and other non -remote packages at SM’s house and harassed his parents at work.

Has operated several different online accounts to manipulate and harass MS

Bukoski maintained an “online fiction” that he was a resident from Ottawa, who participated in Carleton University and told GRC that this was done to discourage other suitors for MS.

At one point, he sent a threat on behalf of SM’s lover, who was arrested at the weapon and kept in detention for five hours.

Fire House

Also, Bukoski conspired with others, including an online friend who was a minor when the two began to communicate and acknowledged that he participated in the online harassment campaign.

In February 2018, the friend, Gavin Casdorph, planted a bomb at the lover’s family’s house when I slept inside. The explosion damaged their residence and vehicles, but did not cause injury.

Bukoski was involved in Firebombing, but the accusations against him were rejected, just like charges for fire and attempted murder

Casdorph testified against Bukoski. He acknowledged that he planned and executed Firebombing, but the supposed Bukoski played a role in orchestrating it.

While the court probably believed that Bukoski provided information to the friend and may be manipulated, he decided that the evidence does not comply with the test standard.

Casdorph’s testimony was examined for inconsistencies and the lack of corroboration of the evidence that connects Bukoski directly to the attack.

Convicted of other offenses in us

The online harassment against MS stopped after Bukoski was arrested in July 2018.

The trial included 60 days extended over three years, included rejected challenges in accordance with section 11 (B) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, known as the request in Jordan.

Bukoski had previously pleaded guilty in the United States in 2019 for the operation of a long lasting online service, which allowed users to attack areas and networks.

He was sentenced in 2020 to five years of evidence and six months of “community prison”, after a FBI investigation found up to 80,000 subscribers used the services between 2011 and 2018.

It is expected that the conviction and extradition hearings for his Canadian convictions will be scheduled in the coming months.
