A heated exchange between Mejbri and Osmajic led to player Burnley to talk to referee Andrew Kitchen and he continued to play until he was replaced in the 71st minute.

A statement on the Preston site acknowledged the accusation FA, adding that Osmajic continued to “strongly refuse” the accusations.

“Preston recognizes the accusations against Milutin Osmajic by FA following the last month’s championship match,” the statement said.

“Milutin continues to strongly deny the accusations regarding the use of abusive language with reference to color and/or race and will provide an official response to the FAI taxes.

“Until a time when the case ended, the club will not comment.”
