Kerala MLA KT Jaleel claims that people educated by Madrassa involved in drug trafficking, says Hindu children show more moral responsibility – Kerala News

The independent MLA supported by the left from Kerala, KT Jaleel, sparked controversy with his comments that connect the drug trafficking with the people who participated in Madrassas.

Speaking at an Iftar Assembly in Malappuram, Thavanur Mla Jaleel claimed that those involved in drug trafficking and MDMA holding are often from religious schools, adding that children from the Hindu community and those without religious education have shown “more moral responsibility”.

Jaleel said financial greed was leading people in smuggling. “MDMA trafficking, drug trafficking, selling them and becoming their carriers are for the sake of obtaining money,” he said, asking Muslim organizations to intervene in this matter. He warned about serious consequences if the problem did not face it.

His observations attracted sharp criticisms, with MLA Najeeb Kandhapuram, the Muslim League (iUml), Mla Najeeb Kandhapuram, accusing him of doing “arguments without the basis” with political motifs. “He should say what data depends to make such claims. In Kerala, there is no such data,” Kandhapuram said.

He also claimed that Jaleel was trying to create confusion and deviate attention from the wider fight against drug abuse.

“He works for both CPIM and BJP.
