Pune: Dehu Road police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old daily laborer from Bhusawal after he fled the city following the killing of his friend in Talawade on November 2.
The police had earlier arrested his accomplice from Shikrapur.
The victim, Amod Kumar Yadav (23), hailing from Bihar’s Madhubani district, was allegedly killed over a petty issue, police said.
Yadav’s brother Pramod Yadav (25) lodged a complaint with the Dehu Road police.
Senior Inspector Vijay Waghmare of Dehu Road police said the victim and the suspects worked as daily laborers in various private companies in Talawade and Shikrapur.
“The victim and the suspects had a heated argument over a petty issue, following which they hit Yadav with a wooden stick on November 2 in Talawade,” Waghmare said.
The officer said that after the crime came to light, the police received information that one of the two suspects had fled to Shikrapur. “We laid a trap and took the suspect, Bhogendra Kumar Saday (23), into custody from Shikrapur,” he said.
During interrogation, Saday revealed the name of his accomplice, Jayprakash Saday (19), who fled the city.
“Police Accountant Ketan Kangude received information that Jayprakash fled by train to his village in Bihar’s Madhubani district,” Waghmare said.
The police team chased Jayprakash at Bhusawal station and took him into custody.
“After the murder, Jayprakash fled to Khed-Shivapur. Then he reached Kurla in Mumbai by road. We caught him in the train,” the officer said.
The suspects were remanded in custody until November 8. “Our investigations are ongoing,” he said.
