Kedah Govt intends to ban aggressive dogs in residential areas

Alor Setar: The Kedah government is to develop new guidelines that can prohibit the property of aggressive dog breeds as pets in residential areas of the whole state.

Lansor Zakaria said that the move follows an incident in which five people were attacked and bitten by two Rottweilers in Taman Desa Bidara, in Kuala Ketil, Baling, Tuesday (April 1).

“I met the dog’s owner with other relevant parts, and after discussions, the owner agreed to teach the dogs at the Veterinary Office so that they were given up on them.

“These aggressive breeds are not suitable for residential areas. This is already the second case, and this time, five victims have been involved – it is a serious problem,” he said in a statement on Thursday (April 3).

He added that he visited all the victims, who are currently receiving treatment at government and private hospitals.

It is reported that they are in stable condition, some have undergone surgery due to severe bite wounds.

“They are also traumatized. They hope that this case will be solved properly, which is why we will write orientations to prevent such incidents from happening again,” he said.

It was reported that the five were injured after the dogs escaped the cage.

Meanwhile, the director of the Kedah Veterinary Services Department, Dr. Shahar Amar Talib, confirmed that both Rottweilers involved in the attack were euthanized (April 2). – Bernama
