The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, MMALOKO KUBAYI, expressed concern for the failures of the prosecutor who led to the payment of the Nigerian pastor, Timothy homotoso, under accusations of rape and human trafficking.

The Televangelist and the two co-accused, Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho, were acquitted by the judge, the judge of the High Court Gqeberha, Irma Schoeman, on Wednesday, who found that the state failed to demonstrate its case beyond a reasonable doubt, after a process that lasted for almost eight years.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said that the concern of Minister Kubayi comes from “apparent deficiencies in managing the criminal case, which led to a significant delay in prosecuting justice for victims of gender-based violence.”

Minister Kubyai said that Judge Schoeman has escaped his criticisms regarding the poor quality of the cross -examination in the process.

She has now requested a comprehensive report from the national director of the public pursuit, lawyer Shamila Batohi, to understand the factors that contributed to this result.

Meanwhile, NPA said that he would study the judgment closely following the scary comments of Judge Schoeman about the former prosecutors in the long -term case.

“By giving up the judgment, Judge Irma Schoeman found that the trio was not guilty because of the techniques, mainly that the former prosecutors in the file acted improperly, and the accused was not sufficiently examined by the state,” said the spokesman of the EC Regional, Luxolo Tyali.

He said that, for this reason, the criminal prosecution team will study the decision and decide what legal ways to explore.
