ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – Florida Highway Patrol officials say one person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash on I-10 Saturday afternoon.
A 68-year-old Pensacola woman is said to have been killed, a 62-year-old Pensacola man critically injured.
No identities have been released.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say a silver Audi sport utility vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 in Escambia County, approaching Exit 17 for Scenic Highway around 5:30 Saturday afternoon.
The Audi is said to have traveled into a ditch along the motorway after failing to negotiate a left bend on the carriageway and struck a large concrete wall, causing the vehicle to spin into the ditch, ejecting the front passenger .
FHP officials say the same passenger, a 68-year-old woman from Pensacola, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 62-year-old Pensacola man, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
