Traffic stop leads to arrest of wanted sex offender in Mt. Juliet

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted sex offender, according to the Mt. Police Department. Juliet.

Police said they stopped a truck on Old Lebanon Dirt Road for an expired tag from January 2022. The investigation revealed the driver is wanted on multiple felony charges.

MJPD said the 38-year-old Nashville man was a registered sex offender who was wanted on six felony charges, including failure to report as a registered sex offender and escape from probation in Nashville.

The man had been unregistered since February 2022, MJPD said.

The original charges stem from allegations of attempted rape of a child in Sumner County.

Police have not released the man’s name.

“Thanks to proactive policing and the commitment of our officers, another wanted person is now in custody,” MJPD said.
