Suspect arrested for hitting victim with shovel in fight with Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A suspect was arrested for assault and battery in Palmer Sunday afternoon.

According to the Palmer Police Department, just before 5 p.m., officers responded to a downtown residence for reports of a fight.

As officers arrived, one person was in the process of leaving.

Officials said it was quickly discovered that the individual had struck someone else with a shovel multiple times, causing cuts and minor injuries.

The suspect was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

This incident is now under investigation by the Palmer Police Department.
