A man has appeared in court accused of burglarizing an Ocean Village restaurant.
Following a police investigation, Riyen Lea, 37, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning and charged.
The Magistrates Court heard that Mr Lea was seen on CCTV using a root to gain entry to the premises. Once inside, he is alleged to have tried unsuccessfully to gain access to a slot machine and cash out using a crowbar, before stealing a fake gold ring and leaving the area.
At the Court of Magistrates, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the accusation. He refused a lawyer and was remanded in custody.
The case was adjourned until next week.
