Person struck by Amtrak train in Cranston, RI

Police are investigating after a person was struck by a train in Cranston, RI on Saturday, officials said.

The person was struck near Wellington Avenue, Cranston police said. Details about the victim’s identity or medical condition were not immediately available.

Trains traveling between Boston and Kingston, RI, were delayed due to a person who “came into contact with a train west of Providence,” Amtrak said in an alert issued at 4 p.m.
