Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Moci) launched Sunday “National Product” to raise awareness of the importance of national industries and encourage consumers to support national products, thus contributing to sustainable development.

In his speech on this occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development at Moci, Saleh Majid of Khulai Said That “National Product Week” is one of the Significant initiatives to Support National Industry, as it Highlight of Quality of Products and Enhances their competitiveness on local markets and regional.

He added that this event reflects Moci’s commitment to support the industrial sector, according to Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Khulafi said that the “week of the national product” serves as an opportunity to increase the cooperation between public and private sectors, because it allows local companies to present their products and highlight their competitive potential. He added that the opportunity emphasizes the achievements made in different industries, strengthening the national economy and increasing the competitiveness of local products, especially in the production sector.

The under -secretary assistant for industrial affairs and business development said that, through its strategy of production industries, the ministry implements 15 major initiatives, which include over 60 development projects, which aim to improve the efficiency of the industrial sector and increase IT investments.

He added that some of the strategy objectives include increasing the contribution of the industrial sector to the national economy, increasing the value of non-hydrocarbons and improving the Qatar ranking in the industrial performance index (CIP).

In turn, the director of the National Department of Competitiveness Assistance for Moci Product, Dr. Mohamad Ahmad Al Sayed said that, through this initiative, the Ministry is trying to improve the ability of local companies and the manufacturer to compete, which contributes to sustainability. economic.

He stressed that the initiative has achieved positive results in recent years, with retail stores registering a 75 percent increase in national products in the previous edition.

Dr. Al Sayed added that Moci has launched a national product web page on the ministry’s website, allowing local factories to obtain the logo of the Qatari product, a symbol of consumers’ confidence, increasing the position of local products on the market. The page also offers a platform to file complaints related to harmful international commercial practices and industrial constraints, thus creating a correct, competitive environment, which promotes the sustainability of national production.

The director of the National Department of Assistance of the Competitiveness of the product from Moci said that the last years have registered a visible increase in the number of products and national factories, the number of national products increasing from 1,727 to 2023 to 1,814 in 2024, reaching 1,815 products so far So far this year.

Dr. Al Sayed mentioned that the industrial sector has been witnessing and increasing in terms of factories, from 58 factories in 2023 to reach a total of 929 factories, followed by another 64 factories in 2024, Bringing the total to 993 factories, with an additional factory registered this year, bringing the total number to 994 factories.

At the participation of several representatives of the government body and the private sector, the launch ceremony presented a presentation about the national product, in addition to the specialized workshops, including one regarding the fight against harmful commercial practices and a project development workshop by the project by Qatar Development Bank.

Through this event, Moci continues his efforts to support and empower the private sector, to build confidence in the national product and to encourage small and medium -sized enterprises to grow and to expand on both local and global markets.
