Marquette – a doctor from the Marquette area who was recently arrested and accused of abuse of his son was put in the test last November last year by the Board of Directors that supervise the license to practice medicine.

The Council of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Michigan placed Dr. Colin Irish in the 18 -month test on November 2, after it was found to have violated the public health code during his doctor’s practice.

The Board of Directors also issued Irish a fine of $ 2,500.

The Irishman was investigated in 2022 by the Business Department and Regulation. An investigator with the department found that the Irishman failed to document his reason for prescribing controlled substances in some patients, failing to send some patients to pain treatment, failing some patients in specialists, failing to monitor patients with urine drug drug screens and non -compliance with Michigan’s automatic prescription system by issuing recipes of controlled substances, which represents a violation of the law of the state.

In October, the disciplinary subcommittee of the Osteopathic Medicine Council and the Disciplinary Subcomitis of Ireland and Michigan for osteopathic medicine and surgery was stipulated to enter an order of consent. According to the stipulation, the Irish did not recognize the claims against him, but he agreed that disciplinary subcommittee could enter into an order that treats the accusations as true.

The Irishman was arrested on Tuesday, February 18, together with his wife, Carrie Irish, because they were abused by their 10 -year -old son.

The police say that the boy, who has special needs, was closed in an unheated closet at the residence in which he slept on a linoleum floor carrying only the linen and without a blanket, pillow or mattress.

The closet did not contain windows, and the wardrobe walls were modified with plastic sheets. According to the accusations, the boy defeated and urinated several times on the cabinet floor and was forced to clean the mess, leaving a strong smell of cleaning solution.

The child was placed in maternal assistance together with his two younger brothers, between the ages of 6 and 8.

The Irishman has not had a previous disciplinary history with the Board of Directors since he obtained a medical license from Michigan in 2020.
