The IT industry must move from models based on people to the platform, say HCLTECH and Infosys CEOs

The IT services industry is at a turning point, companies that need to move from traditional models, based on entry, to several results based on results, according to the leaders of the top industry.

Talking to CNBC-TV18C Vijayakumar, MD and CEO of Hcltech, highlighted the urgent need to transform. “Much of the industry is determined by a model based on time and material entries, or the number of people who offer certain results. But we have to go dramatically to output and results,” he said. Vijayakumar stressed that companies should embrace the “service as software” and move from operational services dependent on people to platform -based solutions.

Salil Parekh, CEO and MD of Infosys, sounded similar feelings, emphasizing the role in this transition. “We see that the automation driven by AI have changed how services are provided. Customers are looking for efficiency and productivity gains, which means that IT companies have to rethink their approach,” said Parekh.

Both leaders warned against the complaint, asking companies to reinvent themselves proactive – even with the price of cannibalization of existing income. “The changes you bring are very different from what we have seen with cloud and digitalization. We must adapt quickly to build completely new business,” Vijayakumar said.

Despite the interruptions, they remain optimistic, believing that companies that recognize and embrace this change will lay the foundations for long -term success.
