About 7,000 people have died in the fight in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC) since January, a prime minister said on Monday a high -level meeting of the Geneva Human Rights Council.

About 450,0000 people are homeless after 90 travel camps were destroyed, added Judith Suminwa Tuluka.

The M23 advance is the worst escalation in more than a decade of long -term conflict in the east Congo. The capture of the rebellious group from the east and of valuable mineral warehouses stuck fears of a wider war.

Rwanda rejects the accusations of Congo, the United Nations and the Western powers that M23 holds with weapons and troops.

The prime minister asked the world to act and impose “disuos” against mass disputes and summary executions.

“It is impossible to describe the screams and cries of millions of victims of this conflict,” she added.

In the opening observations from the 58th of the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, UN chief Antonio Getterres He said that human rights around the world are “suffocated” and refers to terrible abuses of human rights in the RDC.

Since the beginning of the year, the RDC has faced rear losses in the provinces of northern and southern Kivu, supplying the criticisms of the military strategy of the authorities.
