ICIHAITI – Justice: An American risks 30 years in prison for the abuse of the Haitii minors

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, a jury in Miami condemned American Michael Geilenfeld (73 years old), the founder of a Haitian orphanage, sexually abused at his unit in Au-Prince.

The trial included testimony from six Haitian men who said they were abused while living at Geilenfeld’s “boys’ house, between 2005 and 2010. The boys, now in 20 years, were between 9 and 13 years at that time.

Judicial records show that Michael Geilenfeld was convicted on Thursday night for six illegal sexual contact accusations with minors from a foreign country and a number of travel from Miami to Haiti for this illegal purpose.

Geilenfeld is scheduled to be sentenced to May 5, 2025, in front of the American district judge David Leibowitz and faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. A judge of the Federal District Court will establish his sentence after taking into account the American law.

It should be notes that accusations of abuse against Geilenfeld in Haiti remain unresolved, due to a dysfunctional justice system …
