The man in Utah arrested after he had kidnapped the woman in Magna

Magna, Utah – a man from Utah is now experiencing accusations of kidnapping and robbery, after the police said they received texts from the victim.

The incident started on Friday around 10:30, when the officers were called to 3500 South 8400 West in Magna. The police say the victim started sending messages with 9-1-1, telling the dispatchers that they were in their own vehicle. The victim told the first respondents that the suspect, Joseph James Schultz, 28, led and refused to stop.

Investigators say initially Schultz received permission to drive the vehicle, but started driving at high speed, after the victim asked to be left.

Schultz after the victim contacted the police would have driven in a complex of apartments to find a new car to steal, but decided not to see a heavy police presence in the area.

The officers tried to stop the vehicle, but Schultz refused to stop driving in a way that the police described it as reckless throughout the city. Finally, the officers disabled the vehicle using top strips.

It is assumed that Schultz would leave the vehicle and try to run on the floor before using a K-9 officer.

Schultz is now accused of aggravated abduction, failing to stop at the command of the police, the robbery and the reckless danger. He is restrained without bail.
