Gardaí that investigates the “unexplained” death of man (60 years) in Cork

Gardaí investigates the “unexplained” death of a man in Co Cork.

The investigation was launched after the body of a man from the 60s was found at a residential property in Bromfield West, in Midleton, Co Cork, Monday afternoon.

The body was found by emergency services around 4:00 pm. The apartment was sealed for a medical -legal examination.

A woman was also treated on the spot. She was taken to the Cork University Hospital for treatment.

It was in a serious condition when it was found, but there were no obvious signs of injury. The local coroner has been notified and an investigation will be heard in a timely manner.

Gardaí said that the man’s death is “unexplained”.

A postmortem exam to be performed on the man will determine the course of the Garda probe. The man’s body remains on the spot.

It is understood that laboratory tests will be critical in determining the precise cause of the death involved.

In the meantime, Gardaí said he was investigating the problem.

“Shortly after 4 pm, Gardaí responded to a report of an incident to a residential property in Broomfield West, Midleton, where an adult man (understood to be in the 60s) was found unanswered. He was Pronounced dead on the spot shortly later, “A spokesman said.

“An adult woman was treated on the spot and transported by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

“The scene is kept for forensic examination, the local forensics has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be organized by the state pathologist.

“The death of the man is currently unexplained, and the post-mortem results will help guard in determining the course of their investigations.

“There is no additional information at this time.”
