Bouncer arrested in connection with the Torture of the Night Club Zanzou has the previous conviction, the court said

Johannesburg – It was shown that the man arrested on the torture of the patrons of the Zanzou Night Club in Hatfield was previously convicted for shopping.

This was revealed during his first appearance at the Court of Pretoria Magistrates Monday.

The 41 -year -old was involved in the physical and sexual aggression of a group of young people.

The muscle bouncer wore a face mask during the judicial procedures, and the media prohibited from taking pictures with him and his legal team.

When the magistrate president asked about the criminal historian of the suspect, the defense revealed that he was arrested for shopping in the past.

The lawyer explained in addition that the shopping incident was a minor, involving only R300 and took place five years ago.

The spokesman of the National Purchase Authority (NPA), Lumka Mahanjana, said that the state is currently working on collecting additional information about the suspect.

“The state wants to verify that indeed the accused is legal in the country after submitting the documents of the investigation officer.”

The man will return to court for an official bail.
