Vigil took place for Ukrainian victims for three years of war with Russia

San Diego (KGTV) – was a Monday night in San Diego and all over the Western world. The local community has gathered for a wake in the light of candles outside the Ukraine’s room to mark three years since the large -scale invasion of Russia.

“It’s a difficult evening,” said Nadia Haywas, President of Ukraine’s Chamber.

The unified flames shone at night, burning mainly for Ukraine from thousands of miles away.

“We continue to pay tribute to those who fight and memorize those who have lost their lives,” Haywas said.

The Monday vigil honored their value.

Some estimates show that over 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed from the Russia’s invasion, along with over 40,000 civilians killed or injured in accordance with UN Human Rights Office.

“I do not imagine that the Ukrainian people giving up freedom and democracy,” Haywas said. “So they will fight until they need to.”

Vigile came one day after Russia launched a record number of drones in Ukraine, and a week after President Donald Trump called Zelenskyy a “dictator”. Trump even suggested that Ukraine has begun the war, although since then it has gone back to that comment.

“The contradictions that appear constantly are confused,” Haywas said. “They are confused for us here, in the United States, they are confused for all our supporters, they are confused for people in Ukraine.”

Trump did not join Monday to European leaders in Ukraine to mark a three-year stage, but said that the war with Ukraine could end in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, the negotiations between Trump and Zelenskyy continue on Ukraine’s mineral wealth. Trump said that an agreement is close and will play a huge role in getting American support to move on.

“I think the most important thing to keep in mind, for everyone who follows this, is that Ukraine is on the right side of history,” Barbaniuk said. “We have never wanted this war, but we fight for our existence.”
