Kumbh Stamps: Human Life cannot only be figures

Kumbh Stamps: Human Life cannot only be figures

A stamp at a train station in the heart of the national capital speaks badly about our country. At least 18 people, mostly women and children, were killed in a stamp at the New Delhi train station on the night of February 15th. Many of the victims were pilgrims waiting to travel to Mahakumbh in Praygraj.

The 45-day Mela, anticipated to be the largest religious assembly in the world, started on January 13 and will end on February 26. The tragedy in New Delhi Gairway is the second fatal fingerprint associated with Kumbh Mela. The first one took place in Sangam in Praygraj on January 29 and claimed 30 lives, according to the official statistics of the Uttar Pradesh Government. The reports also reveal that about 141 Kumbh pilgrims were killed in road accidents on January 13th.

This is worth the question again: Why do we have no attention for precious lives in India? In the country of “VIP” culture, isn’t ordinary people worth a certain dignity?

The wrong management of the crowd

The causes for each fingerprint are different, but they indicate either a lack of fire safety, the wrong administration and interruptions due to the VIP movement, or the collapsed infrastructure. This is the frenzy about Kumbh, which, despite a deadly fingerprint on January 29, the fair continues to attract millions of pilgrims from different parts of India and the world.

The shuttle to Praygraj itself is tiring. Due to decreasing flight tickets, the air trip was accessible only for a few. Social media is flooded with photos and videos with crowds on the railway platforms waiting to climb with trains related to Praygraj. Maybe the railways should have been driving special trains for 45 -day rates. Those who choose to travel on the road were forced to face huge traffic jams and fatal road accidents, in which some people lost their lives.

The Uttar Pradesh government has used technologies such as air surveillance and pursuit of mobile movements to monitor people. It must also be praised for its extraordinary attempt to manage the mammoth population. Already, about 50 Crore people have visited Kumbh.

However, there were deficiencies. There were several fire incidents that broke out in different places during the current Mela, destroying tents, shops, huts, etc.

The so-called “VIP culture” in India, who give priority to few privileged towards others, remains inevitable, obvious on roads, hospitals, temples and even Kumbh. Eye witnesses say they were blocked in jams for many hours during VIP visits. Even at 20 km by car from Praygraj airport to Kumbh, it lasted over four hours on VIP movement days.

Anticipating the growth of the “VIP movement”, it would have been cautious for the government to make separate arrangements for them, without inconvencing the common masses. Similarly, in the days that culminated with the special ‘Snan“Days, when there was a massive growth of devotions, there should have been better training. Major laps, such as poor planning, insufficient outputs, inadequate control of the crowd and the lack of emergency preparation have led to unfortunate incidents.

Worthless for life

The railway stations, like any limited public space, have their own ability to support the crowd. According to reports, chaos took place due to a reason for reasons. From the accumulation of passengers on platforms to ads that have led to the change of platforms, neither the railway staff nor the Delhi police have actually checked the flow of passengers to New Delhi. In the age of technology, with advanced predictive analysis tools easily available, why were we not modern methods used to evaluate the extent of the event and plan accordingly?

According to the report of the National Office of Crime (NCRB), entitled “Accidental deaths and suicides in India”, between 2001 and 2022, a total of 3,074 lives due to the stamps of India were lost. Another study emphasizes that 79% of the stamps in the country take place at religious events, compared to political or entertainment meetings. However, we don’t seem to learn.

Most of the victims of India stamps do not have adequate access to medical and social safety nets. The pregnancy is supported not only by the victim, but by the whole household, which often deprive their families by their primary member. Medical expenses, compensation, legal costs and loss of economic productivity are added tasks. country.

Posts New Delhi Stampede, the railway minister has announced the “holding of areas” for passengers from 60 stations that are witnesses to a high foot, especially during events and festivals. The railways will also release a manual manual manual and will sensitize people. This announcement, although important, is too small and too late.

Not long ago, actor Telugu Allu Arj was arrested due to a person’s death in a stamp during Pushpa Screening. It is ironic that no responsibility for the pelerine deaths related to Kumbh has been established.

India is the most populated country in the world. For the center and the state governments, the preparation and approach of situations similar to the fingerprint should be the necessary training. Human life cannot be just figures.
