Cowboys have to add a QB to help Dak Prescott

Cowboys have to add a QB to help Dak Prescott

Dallas cowboys have a lot of holes to fill this season and, although they don’t need a quarter, they will need someone to back up Dak Prescott. There is no Cooper Rush, no Trey Lance, and Will Grier is not too big to write at home. Basically, it is only Prescott, looking around like Will Smith Gif from Bel Air’s fresh prince.

Although this is not a pressing need, ideally, the cowboys would only like the number 2 QB to hold a clipboard and take a hand-meaning hand of instant during the 17-game program, the team must take the QB concert seriously reserve.

Prescott has only played a complete season of 2019 and comes out of an injury that cost him the last nine games of his 2024 campaign. In the last five seasons, Prescott has been derailed twice, with a horrible compound fracture to the ankle in 2020 and last year with a Hamstring injury that has been broken from the bone. In 2022, a fractured thumb cost the veteran signal for five games, but it was the only season in which the team resisted the absence of postsezon.

Prescott ages; He will be 32 years old in July, and his body will not take hits as well as in his younger years. Cowboys must have a spare plan because believing that Prescott can play a full slate in 2025 would be short -lived. The last thing the organization would want to be to derail a season of a Prescott’s injury without an adequate backup option.

Last year, and in the last four seasons, Dallas turned in a hurry to fill the goal when Prescott came out of the line. It is not a bright name and does not have a sexy game, but Rush did well when he was called. The 9-5 Rush’s record as a reserve is a proof that it can keep the team in dispute when it is on the ground. Four of these losses came last year, when the cowboys were decimated by injury and were not much better when Prescott was in line.

Rush is also a free agent, capable of signing with any team. Although he could return, Rush was once raised by another team when Cowboys released him, New York Giants in 2020.

The wait was always that Rush will return, because he always seems to find his way back, being reported by cowboys five times out of 2020. As a team that loves to keep the players I know, Rush is at kind as comfortable as he receives it.

However, Rush’s return is not a guarantee, and in Stephen Jones’s interview at NFL combine, he mentioned how Rush could order more than they can afford their cowboys.

If Rush does not return, the cowboys are not likely to resort to their former signal caller no. 3 of the spear. Despite the fact that he invested a choice from the fourth round in 2023, the team is expected To pass from Lance After two non -impressive seasons. Dallas liked him enough to change a choice for him, but they didn’t seem to let him play until the last match of the 2024 season. Lance had an admirable presentation for Washington commanders, but Cowboys who do not want to play it in significant games, despite the fact that he gave up a choice in the middle of the round for him.

However, beyond Rush and Lance, the cowboys have little connection with any of the free -market. Grier is much more team option option than primary backup, so a true signal appeal no. 2.

The list of free QBs agents is a solid groupBut if Rush will cost too much, then this list is made up of options that will be largely too expensive for Joneses to consider and no one is likely to meet a definitive spare. Veterans Aaron Rodgers and Sam Darnold will order a difficult price to sign and none will come to Dallas as a QB no. 2.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers Qbs Russell Wilson and Justin Fields could be suitable, especially with Wilson who gets familiar with Schottenheimer, but they could both look for more opportunities to play. Jameis Winston could be an option, maybe Joe Flacco, if he were willing to sign for cheaper than they could receive elsewhere.

Young QBs who may be interested in cowboys include Zach Wilson and Mac Jones, two signal callers trying to find the right match to revitalize their career. Other options include Taylor Heinicke, Marcus Mariota, Drew Lock or Jimmy Goppolo.

Isn’t it a bad group of QBs looking for a house this season, but will the cowboys have seriously distracting any of them? The potential is there to add a younger QB upwards, it’s just a problem of what the cowboys want to do behind Prescott.

In the past, Dallas added veteran quarters with a certain success, Andy Dalton And Kyle Orton comes to mind, but this strategy has changed to sign a cheaper option like Rush.

Cowboys could also add a QB to the project, which seems to be the favorite option. Jones mentioned that they will seek to write a QB Which could mean that Prescott’s main backup could be a beginner. This is not a wonderful class to find help in the project and it seems that there are too many other holes on the list to use a choice on a QB, but the cowboys will take a long look at the future group in April.

Regardless of what cowboys decide, they need to make sure they have a quality backup QB if Prescott cannot do it until season 2025. History tells us that they bet on 17 games at Prescott is not a smart bet .

Even if they give up adding a good veteran reserve option, the cowboys have to add at least one QB, because now Prescott is practically everything they have in position.

One is the lonest number.
