Niger Govt forbids the tax on hawks, small traders

In the effort to mitigate the financial task for small -scale traders, the Niger State Government has officially banned the taxation of hawks and small traders from all over the state.

The decision was announced by the state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, while talking to journalists from the Minna Government.

According to him, the state operates a centralized fiscal system that exempts all the hawks and small traders.

The governor said: “I noticed with the dismay of how traders and hawks are exploited by several taxes.

“As a government, I solved that, from now on, no trader – no small trader – should be taxed.

“Hawkers and small traders are taxesless in the Niger state. Anyone who will be found imposing taxes for them will be treated decisively for extortion. “

In view of this, Bago has guided the presidents and counselors of the Local Administration Council to note and ensure that these practices cease with immediate effect.
