Three schoolchildren among six guilty by the brutal Michael Obasi Park Murder

Three of the killers were later laughed and recreating the wild attack in Parry Hall Park

Six people – including three teenagers – were found guilty of killing a man from Birmingham in a city park.

Three boys, one 14 -year -old and two years old, along with three men, Manuel Filipache, Ion Morar, Ion Calin, were convicted of killing Michael Obasi to Perry Hall Park.

Michael had come out for an evening walk at Perry Barr Park when he was attacked by the six, who are all in Aston, on March 14 last year.

The 38 -year -old was reported missing by his family, but his body was found in the park by a dog Walker two days later.

The detectives crossed the CCTV from the area and identified the group of six.

CCTV obtained from two stores in Perry Barr I showed Filipache and Morar using Michael’s bank card after attack. The card has been used several times.

Later, that evening, Filipache, Morar and Calin were captured on the CCTV on Normandy Road, who recaptured the attack on the victim.

The group was registered laughing and speaking animated about the attack.

Following the arrests, the objects belonging to Michael were found at the addresses related to the group, including his flashlight.

The police found DNA from two of the teenage boys, none of them can be called Michael’s shirt and backpack.

The crime probe also revealed that Filipache, Morar and Calin were involved in a violent attack on Walsall Station on January 15, 2024.

West Midlands police He said, “A man was targeted by the group while walking through the station and was repeatedly hit and hit.

“When he was asked about assault at the station, Filipache claimed that he attacked the man in self-defense, fearing that he would be attacked. However, CCTV told another story.

“The three men were accused of attack and together with the three teenagers were also accused of killing Michael.”

All six were found guilty of crime and robbery at Birmingham Crown Court Today, Tuesday, February 25th.

Filipache, Morar and Calin were also found guilty of robbery attempt at the train station. Were withdrawn until conviction at a later date.

Det Insp Phil Poole, from the team of homicides, said: “What happened to Michael was really awful. He was taken in such a cruel way from a family who loved him.

“The group of the process has not shown any remorse for their actions. Instead, they acted in a disgusting way and put Michael’s family through the pain of a process.

“It is heartbreaking that Perry Hall Park was once a place where Michael and his family made happy memories together and that was now removed from them.

“I know that this verdict will not bring Michael back, but I hope they will spend a lot of time in prison, it brings some closing to the family.”
